MISR University for Science and Technology is the biggest private University in Egypt and is at forefront of deploying cutting edge ICT initiatives in that country. It has about 12,000 students and offers different courses ranging from Medicine to business just to mention a few.
The visit took place from 13th November, 2008 to 18th November, 2008. The delegation consisted of: Vice President (Academic Affairs), Prof. Mustafa Kamel, Dr. Ihab Nada and Dr. Mohamed Safwat all faculty members. It was the first time the Team had actually visited Ghana and were very excited at the opportunity. The team was given a tour of all the four campuses of Regent University. They later held discussions with Prof. Emmanuel Kingsley Larbi, the President and CEO of Regent-Ghana, Dr. Charles Owiredu, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. The rest are Dr. Ben Asante and Mr. Agbeko Senanu. The meeting ended with the signing of an M.O.U. between the two Universities and the presentation of MISR plaque to the President of Regent-Ghana.
The team also visited the Head office of Association of African Universities and held close door Meetings with its Secretary-General, Prof. Goolam Mahamedbhai on possible areas of collaboration between the MISR University for Science and Technology and also the African Union of Private Universities whose leadership is currently Egypt . They toured the University of Ghana, Legon and had discussions with Prof. Danquah who is the Dean of International Programmes, to look at possible areas of collaboration. The team finally left the country on the 18th of November, 2008. |
